We know how easy it can be to end up with a messy mix of Google Docs, Dropbox files, external drives, folders, etc. But one of Plytix’s primary functions is enabling you to gather all of your scattered data in a single source of truth.
Step 1: Gather your data
Sometimes you will be able to export your files from your existing systems and easily import them into the PIM, but if not, we recommend getting all of your information set up and formatted into single spreadsheet (or sheets), of which you can then bulk upload into the PIM.
Here’s the top 5 tips to remember when setting up your spreadsheet(s):
- Mandatory Column – SKU
- One product, one row
- Six levels for categories
- Declare parents for variations
- Links to files must be publicly accessible http-links
(If none of the above makes sense, head to the link ;) ^^^)
Step 2: Get your data into the PIM
How? CSV. Comma. Separated. Value. In other words the de facto standard format for most data exchanges between eCommerce, CRM and ERP systems - what we call “The ecommerce ecosystem”.
For optimum import success, and all of the ins and outs of uploading data, follow these steps, and/or check out this article. And don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or doubts!
