Creating and Managing Product Families

How to create and manage product families

Product Families are a way for you to assign attributes to products of the same type so that you can see only relevant attributes for each family. It is also a way for you to set consistent values across several products for the attributes you select through automatic inheritance from parent products to variants. Product families are especially useful if you have a variety of products in your catalog that share only a specific set of attributes.

7. In this section you can choose to turn the inheritance ON for the attributes you want. By turning the inheritance on, any parent values for those attributes will be reflected in all of its variants. This is a great resource if all your variants share some common information with the parent product, for attributes such as description, for example.
