This can be due to a typo or because it doesn't follow the correct naming convention for your company. Whatever the case, renaming an asset in Plytix is an easy task. 💡 This article explains how to rename asset files inside Plytix. You can also [rename an asset upon export](https://help.plytix.com/en/defining-export-settings-for-media-attributes#rename) as needed.  --- ### How to Rename Existing Assets ![Edit asset name](https://help.plytix.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Help%20center/Using%20Plytix/Renaming%20Assets/New%20design%202026/Edit%20asset%20name.jpg?width=670&height=243&name=Edit%20asset%20name.jpg) 1. Navigate to the detail page of the asset you want to rename. 2. Click on the name of the asset. 3. Enter a new name. 4. Click the enter button on your keyboard to save. ℹ️ The URL of the asset will also update to match the asset's new name.    ⚠️ We highly recommend to **not** use characters that may lead to an error in the URL; those include { , }, |, \\, ^, ~, \[ , \] , and \` . We also recommend avoiding the use of non-English characters such as "ä" and "â".  Not following these instructions may generate a badly coded URL that results in a **404 error**.
